Health Resource Center at Reading High

  • On August 22, 2018, the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø School Board approved a Health Resource Center (HRC) aimed at improving the health of Reading High School (RHS) students. Co County Wellness Services (CCWS) is a local organization that has been helping the community for over 30 years.  CCWS has partnered with the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø to administer the HRC at RHS.

The HRC will provide RHS students with education about abstinence, reproductive health, healthy relationships and good decision-making. Students are offered education that stresses abstinence as the only 100% effective way to prevent pregnancy, HIV and STDs. The HRC offers students the opportunity for individual level counseling that answers their questions and provides them with tools to prevent negative health outcomes. The HRC also provides referrals to local agencies for services that the HRC does not provide, such as pregnancy testing and STD testing and treatment. If deemed necessary, condoms are available to students at the HRC as a risk reduction tool.

мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø and CCWS believe that schools can and should help students with these health issues because they can dramatically impact education.  An effective way to make our youth healthier is to continuously improve programs in student health education, parent education, health services and referral to community resources.

Opt-Out Options

  • Beginning November 15, 2018, all Reading High School students will be offered these services.

If, however, you do not want your high school student to be able to receive services, or certain services, at the HRC at RHS, please complete the following form and return it to the RHS.

If you check either opt-out box on the form, you must send the letter back to the address below. If you do not have access to a printer, copies of the form are also available in the Reading High School Main Office for you to complete.
